What fans reported on Miami streets

Fans in Miami noticed convoys of flashy sports cars modified to resemble vehicles from the GTA series, sometimes accompanied by a camera crew, IGN's Cade Onder reported. In videos and photos shared by fans, in-universe brands such as Grotti, a parody of Ferrari, and Emerus, a parody of McLaren, appeared on some of the cars.

Social media posts cited in the report were dated October 15 and October 20, 2026. One post claimed Rockstar Games and West Coast Customs appeared in Key Biscayne for promotion. Rockstar has not confirmed any of this.

The idea that a live-action GTA 6 trailer is being filmed remains a fan theory, not an announcement.

The wider Vice City campaign

The car sightings sit inside a larger marketing push described by Onder. Rockstar has placed ads around Miami, sent a Vice City blimp over Florida, and announced a Vice City-themed NBA game with the Miami Heat in November. Graffiti reading "Vice City" and a "Welcome to Vice City" sign at the stadium have also appeared.

Onder described the effort as turning the city into a real-life version of GTA's universe. According to the report, Rockstar has not addressed any of the advertising and has let it speak for itself.

Release timing and fan theories

According to the report, GTA 6 will release on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Fans have speculated that a real-life video could appear on the day the game becomes available for pre-installation. Others speculate that Rockstar is shooting a live-action trailer and will use the real ads around the city to highlight that it has created a real-life version of Vice City.

There have also been reports that Rockstar will release real-life versions of GTA beer brands in the near future, following listings on a government database. That is separate from the trailer theory and unconfirmed.

What remains unproven

No Rockstar statement confirms a live-action shoot, and no release date exists for such a video. The trailer talk is speculation.

Onder wrote that it is anyone's guess what all of this is being used for, though all signs seem to point to it being related to GTA. The report also notes that Rockstar has announced its Miami Heat sponsored game will be called "A Night in Vice City," raising the possibility of more activities around the city beyond the basketball game.
