The launch numbers on Twitch

World of Warcraft: Forever came out last night and pulled in roughly 385,000 viewers on Twitch, according to Eurogamer. The streamer Ahmpy had the most-watched WoW channel at the time, with about 18,300 live viewers.

For scale, the non-gaming Just Chatting category sat second with 145,000 viewers. League of Legends was third at 81,400, Aion 2 around 75,900, and the Ocarina of Time remake at 63,100 on its release day.

A smooth day one and a busy beta

Eurogamer describes the launch as one of the smoothest day-one releases in the series' recent history, with few problems. The beta had already drawn a lot of attention: Blizzard developers called it one of the most successful betas they have seen.

There are no official numbers on how popular Forever is yet. Blizzard has kept WoW subscriber counts close since around 2015, so the Twitch figures are the visible measure for now.

What to watch next

The viewer count is a snapshot from the day after launch, not a subscriber figure. If you want to judge how Forever is doing, the number to wait for is an official one from Blizzard, which has not been published.
