What is the top pick?
We compare platforms declared and price using manufacturer-stated data and prices read at the listed merchants. We did not test the products hands-on: the score reflects only these criteria. Our top recommended pick in this category is Simplenote, taking the top spot with an overall score of 100/100.

How I chose and rated these products
I only use figures with a source behind them — official specs, price lists, public reviews — and local prices. Compares two figures stated on the official sites, half the weight each: how many platforms the app supports among iOS, Android, Windows, macOS, Linux and the web, and the base plan price in the market (0 for a free plan). A platform not named does not count. Features, quality, privacy and support are not measured: no hands-on testing. The score out of 100 says how close a product comes to the best of the group, criterion by criterion: 100 is the best, 80 is 80% of the best. Here is what I look at and how much it weighs: Platforms declared (50%), Base plan price (50%). A missing figure is not a zero: it stays empty. And no manufacturer can pay to move up.
