Xbox Mythic Achievements: what they are and how many players have unlocked

According to Pure Xbox, Xbox's Platinum Trophy equivalent was made public earlier this week. Pure Xbox describes Mythic Achievements as an additional reward for unlocking all of a game's base achievements to reach 100% completion. Pure Xbox calls these new full-completion accolades a very smart addition to the Xbox console experience.

The Pure Xbox poll had 565 votes at the time of writing. The largest group, 21%, sits between 0 and 10 Mythics. Another 20% have 11 to 30, and 13% have 31 to 50. Higher up, 14% report 51 to 100 and 9% have 101 to 200. Then it thins out: 5% have 201 to 300, 3% have 301 to 400, and 1% have 401 to 500. The last 5% say they have more than 500, and 9% of voters have none at all.

Pure Xbox Editor Fraser Gilbert has 8 Mythics, with titles including FIFA 14, Rocket League and several Telltale The Walking Dead games. Staff Writer Craig Reid has 36, from games such as Alan Wake II, Signalis, End of Abyss and Duck Detective: The Ghost of Glamping. Reid is considering a "Become Mythic" feature: one article per Mythic earned, covering the unlock and the game, and tracking how many he can get in a year. Pure Xbox says the idea is inspired by Push Square's "Going Platinum" feature by Stephen Tailby.

Readers are posting their own numbers under the poll. One says 36, another 15, another 51. Someone reports 347, mostly from the Xbox 360 days. One commenter says their tracker showed 601 and then dropped to 599. Not everyone sees the same thing: one player writes that none have appeared yet despite expecting over 100, and another says they don't chase achievements at all. A few name favourites, including Control, Yooka-Replaylee and Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown.

One commenter links a TrueAchievements profile page listing Mythics, and another cites TrueAchievements for a count of 152. Others simply opened the update to see their total. What isn't settled is why some players see nothing: one commenter expected a three-figure count and got zero, without an explanation in the thread.
